Registration and titles

Vahan Sarkissian holds two separate registrations:

• Mutual Funds Representative — registered with Investia Financial Services Inc., regulated by CIRO. This covers mutual funds, ETFs and approved exempt market products.
• Financial Security Advisor — certified by the Autorité des marchés financiers. Insurance business is placed through SFG (Sarkissian Financial Group), a division of Sheba Distributors Ltd. and a managing general agency registered with the AMF as a financial services firm. This covers life, disability, critical illness and segregated fund products.

These are distinct businesses with distinct regulators. A recommendation involving an insurance product is not made in the capacity of a mutual fund representative, and the reverse is equally true.

How we are paid

Insurance and mutual fund business is compensated by sales commission paid by the company providing the product, and by renewal or service commission on policies that remain active. Above certain production levels, additional compensation such as bonuses and conference attendance may apply. Commission schedules are available on request. Fee-based services are quoted separately and are not commission-based.

Registered as a mutual fund dealer, exempt market dealer, restricted dealer and scholarship plan dealer, and in financial planning and insurance of persons. Head office: 1080 Grande Allée Ouest, Québec QC G1K 7M3. Our office at 3285 boulevard Cavendish, Suite 562, Montréal QC H4B 2L9 is a registered Investia branch location.

Sheba Distributors Ltd. — Autorité des marchés financiers registration number 501172. Registered in insurance of persons and group insurance of persons. Head office: 4226 boulevard Saint-Jean, Suite 301, Dollard-des-Ormeaux QC H9G 1X5.

Neither firm carries conditions or restrictions on its right to practise. Registration can be verified on the Autorité des marchés financiers register.

Who provides the advice

Advice and products are provided by Vahan Sarkissian personally, in his registered capacities with the firms named above. VSF Partners Inc. is the business identity under which he operates; it is not itself a registered dealer or insurance firm, and it does not provide advice or products in its own right.

Insurance and segregated fund business is placed through SFG, a division of Sheba Distributors Ltd. Vahan Sarkissian is an employee of that firm and holds the position of Agency Principal there, and the firm is related to him by family. Because he is compensated by commission and holds that position, this may be perceived as a potential conflict of interest. It is disclosed to the Autorité des marchés financiers and in the advisor disclosure clients review and sign before a purchase.

No insurer holds an ownership interest in the business, and Vahan Sarkissian holds no significant interest in any insurance company.

Products and carriers

Nothing is bought, sold or applied for through this website. It describes the advice and the products available to clients; everything is arranged directly with Vahan Sarkissian in his registered capacities.

Mutual funds, approved exempt market products and exchange traded funds are offered through Investia Financial Services Inc.

Insurance products and segregated fund products are offered through Sheba Distributors Ltd.

Guaranteed Investment Certificates are offered through Investia Financial Services Inc. and/or multiple carriers.

Banking products, home equity lines of credit and mortgages are not offered by Investia Financial Services Inc. These are referrals: banking to Manulife Bank, and mortgages to nesto. See referral arrangements below.

Outside business activities

Some services are offered for a fee, separately from insurance and mutual fund business, and are not supervised by Investia Financial Services Inc. or by SFG. Fees are negotiated and disclosed in full before the service is provided, and are separate from any sales compensation.

These services are: tax preparation and business services through AccuTAX Plus, a division of Sheba Distributors Ltd.; budgeting, cash flow analysis and preparation of a position statement; analysis of projects; loan consolidation; and case analysis with implementation externally.

Referral arrangements

Where we refer you to another professional, any referral arrangement is set out in writing, any compensation is paid through the registered firm rather than to the representative personally, and the terms are disclosed to you in writing before the service is provided.

Privacy

Information you send through the contact form is used only to respond to your enquiry. We do not sell or share it with third parties for marketing.

The firm's Protection of Personal Information Policy sets out how information is collected, used, retained and accessed, and how to make a request or a complaint.

For mutual fund accounts held through Investia Financial Services Inc., the iA Financial Group privacy policy applies.

Clients give written consent to the collection, use and disclosure of their personal information when an account or policy is opened, and may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting the privacy officer.
